“If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our Country will go on to prosper, but if we neglect it’s instructions and authority, no man can tell how suddenly a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury all of our glory in profound obscurity.”
13] Let us walk honestly as the day; not in rioting [orgies] and drunkenness, not in chambering [sexual promiscuity] and wantonness [debauchery], not in strife [dissension] and envying [jealousy] 14] But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ. and make not provision for the flesh. to fulfill the lusts thereof. Now more than ever the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless. and corrupt; is it because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption? If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature. If the next centennial does not find us a great nation, it will be because those who represent the enterprise, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.

I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just. That his justice cannot sleep forever.

If you love: wealth more than liberty, and if you prefer the tranquility of servitude rather than the animated, contest freedom. Then go home in peace. We seek neither your counsel, nor your arms. But bend down and lick the hands that feed you and may your chains rest lightly upon you. And posterity forget that you were our countryman.
Joe Wright’s Prayer:
When minister Joe Wright was asked to open a new session of the Kansas State legislature, everyone was expecting the usual politically correct generalities. but what they heard instead was a stirring prayer. passionately calling our Country to repentance and righteousness. The response was immediate: A number of the Legislature walked out during the prayer in protest. In SIX short weeks, the “Central Christian Church” had logged more than 5.000 responding calls, with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church received requests for copies of the prayer from India, Africa, and Korea. He prayed:
“Father we come before you today and ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know your word says: “woe on those who call evil good”, but that’s exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of your word and called it pluralism, we have worshiped other Gods and called it multiculturalism. We have endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyle. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem. We have abused power and called it political savvy. We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us Oh God, and know our hearts today. Cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to direct us to the center of your will. I ask it in the name of Your son. the living savior; Jesus Christ. Amen”.
